1. Is there a way to skip past the levels that I've already played?

Yes! In fact, you can skip forward as many levels as you want using the 'N' key to skip one level at a time. The 'B' key can be used to skip backwards through the levels. Note that, for the sake of fairness, the 'B' key has the side effect of clearing your score and resetting the number of lives.

Note that the latest Debian release includes a level-selection feature on the menu screen, courtesy of Debian maintainer Joe Wreschnig.

2. What is the strategy for level X? It seems impossible!

All of the levels are possible. Some require a bit of strategy or planning; others require just speed and/or quick reflexes.

3. Will you add feature X to the next version?

I currently have no schedule for the next version. It may never happen. However, here are a few of the features that I have thought about:

  • Two-player network play (collaborative and/or competitive)
  • Ability to skip directly to a specified level (instead of pressing 'N' several times)
  • An integrated level editor that enables sharing of levels via the website

4. Sometimes I get stuck on a level and there's nothing I can do except wait for the timer to expire. Is there a way to abort the level?

You can use the Escape (Esc) key. It has the same effect as the timer expiring, except that it's much faster.

5. I heard that there are special graphics for Colour-blind people. How do I turn them on?

The -cb command-line option enables the special graphics. The way of adding this option depends on your platform. For Windows platforms, do the following:

  1. Create a shortcut by right-clicking on the pathological.exe file.
  2. Right-click on that shortcut and hit "properties".
  3. Under "target" you will see the path to the pathological.exe. Behind that, just enter a blank and the text "-cb".
